The 2nd South Carolina String Band will be invading the greater Boston area over the Columbus Day weekend – ‘charging into the fray’ with their authentically rousing renditions of many familiar and not-so-famlliar songs and melodies popular throughout our nation in the years leading up to and including the War Between the States. It has been said of this band, “Listening to them is like eavesdropping on History!” Come out and hear for yourself at either the Hyde Park or Main Branch of the Boston Public Library!
Both concerts are FREE ADMISSION
If you missed them yesterday at the Boston Public Library, you still have a chance to ‘eavesdrop on history’. The momentum of their successful ‘invasion’ of the north will carry them into the quiet Boston suburb of Beverly Farms. To St. John’s Episcopal Church at 705 Hale Street, to be exact, where at 4 pm, they will present a program, free of charge, of patriotic songs and plantation melodies popular throughout the north and south 150 years ago. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear music of the Civil War authentically performed on period instruments.
